Depresor anguli oris
(downturned corners of the mouth)
The age-related deepening of the associated folds emphasises the projection of negative expressions such as sadness, grief and unpleasantness, whilst accentuating the downturn of the corners of the mouth and creating an inverted smile or “Chinese moustache”. Those lines may be a source of frustration and embarrassment particularly during social or professional interactions.
The injections will relax the muscle that pulls the corner of the mouth downward, thus resulting in the elevation of the corner driven by the antagonist muscle.
The effect is expected to last for up to 3-4 months, with the best results achievable when dermal filler are administered concomitantly.
